United States Energy Secretary Rick Perry defended President Donald Trump’s proposed energy budget cuts at a Washington House Appropriations Committee meeting on Tuesday.

The cuts include an 18% reduction to research programmes at the Department of Energy (DOE), with renewable energy and energy efficiency projects facing cuts of more than 60%.
