The European Commission has approved Macquarie's acquisition of sole control over the petroleum trading and marketing business of Cargill, it said on Friday. The companies first announced the deal in March this year.
"The Commission concluded that the proposed acquisition would not raise competition concerns given the very limited overlap between the companies' activities and the presence of strong competitors," the commission said in a statement.
The acquisition price was not disclosed.
