The number of gas-targeted rigs operating in Asia Pacific declined by 9% month on month in May. The countries with more active exploration activity – Australia, India and Thailand – all reduced their rig counts by one over the month. The number of operational rigs is still 11% higher year on year, with significantly more rigs deployed in Australia than a year ago.
