Myanmar’s Ministry of Electricity and Energy (MOEE) will draft new laws to cover LNG imports in cooperation with the Myanmar Oil and Gas Services Society, according to the Myanmar Times.

The new law will allow private investment in the oil and gas sector, the storage and distribution of petroleum products, and electricity distribution.

The MOEE is considering using LNG imports to meet the country’s growing demand for power, which it has said could be cost-effective with a long-term tariff in place.
