Delfin LNG, the first floating LNG export plant planned for the United States, has received approval from the US Department of Energy to export 50.98 million cubic metres per day of gas as LNG.

"Investing in American gas not only helps our economy and our jobs, but also helps our allies maintain their energy security," US Energy Secretary Rick Perry said in a statement.

The 13 mtpa Delfin project was issued with a deepwater port licence on 13 March by the US Department of Transportation’s Maritime Administration.
