Australia’s Ichthys platform arrives at project site

By Staff reporter 30 May 2017

The semi-submersible platform for Australia’s Ichthys LNG project has arrived at its final location, according to The West Australian.

The platform is the largest of its type in the world and is a major milestone for the Inpex-led project.

The platform was towed 56,000 km from where it was manufactured in South Korea to the Browse Basin, 450 km north of Broome.

Gas from the facility will be sent through an 890 km subsea pipeline to the onshore LNG processing facility near Darwin.
