Chinese gas consumption rockets by 21.7% in April

China’s gas consumption surged by 21.7% year on year in April, to 16.9 billion cubic metres, bringing the total for the first four months of 2017 to 80.5 bcm, according to the National Development and Reform Commission.

Domestic output increased by 14.4% in April, to 12.1 bcm, raising the total for the year so far to 50.6 bcm, while imports increased by 22.5%, to 6.4 bcm, raising the year-to-date total to 27.2 bcm.
