The Miraah thermal solar power project in Oman could start up in August this year, Raoul Restucci, managing director of Petroleum Development Oman (PDO), has told the Times of Oman.

The project will capture heat from the sun to produce steam that will be used to extract heavy and viscous oil.

PDO awarded the project development contract to Glasspoint Solar in July 2015.
