India’s gas consumption increased by 6.6% in the 2016-2017 financial year, according to statistics from the Petroleum Planning and Analysis Cell. The country’s consumption of gas fell from a high of 59 billion cubic metres in 2010-2011 to 45.3 bcm in 2014-2015 before rebounding to 49.7 bcm in 2016-2017, mostly because the country was importing more LNG.
