Engie and AES form JV to sell LNG in Central America

French gas and power company Engie and United States-based AES Corp. have agreed a joint venture to market and sell LNG in Central America.

French gas and power company Engie and United States-based AES Corp. have agreed a joint venture to market and sell LNG in Central America.

The two companies signed a marketing agreement last year. The JV will use the 1.5 mtpa Costa Norte LNG terminal in Colón, Panama, which is currently under construction.

AES is building a 380 MW combined-cycle gas turbine (CCGT) on the same site. Up to 25% of the Costa Norte terminal’s capacity will be used for the CCGT, for which Engie will supply up...
