Belgian electricity exports increased sharply in 2016 as France shut down several of its nuclear power plants, data from Belgian transmission system operator (TSO) ELIA shows.
Belgium exported more than 5 TWh of electricity to France in 2016 and imported much less than the year before.
A number of Belgium’s gas-fired power plants have been closed or mothballed in recent years....
