Iowa Fertilizer Co. (IFCo) has started production at the first world-scale greenfield nitrogenous fertiliser plant in the United States.
The $3 billion plant is estimated to produce 1.5-2.0 mtpa of nitrogenous fertiliser products, using gas as both feedstock and fuel, the United States Energy Information Administration (EIA) said in its Natural Gas Weekly Update last week.
IFCo's parent company, OCI, produces gas-based fertilisers throughout the world and is based in the Netherlands.
