Statoil receives consent for Barents Sea exploration

Statoil has received permission from Norway’s Petroleum Safety Authority to drill exploration well 7219/9-2 in the Kayak prospect in the Barents Sea.

Statoil has received permission from Norway’s Petroleum Safety Authority to drill exploration well 7219/9-2 in the Kayak prospect in the Barents Sea, the authority said on Thursday.

Work is due to start this month and is planned to last for 27 days. The well is located around 140 km northwest of the Goliath licence area. The company will use a mobile drilling facility.
