Gas Entec to construct LNG-fuelled container vessel

South Korea’s Gas Entec has signed a memorandum of agreement with Seoil Agency Co. – a company specialising in shipping refrigerated cargo – to construct, charter and operate an LNG-fuelled reefer ship.

The vessel will use the cryogenic energy generated during the vaporisation of LNG to cool the cargo hold, eliminating the need for additional cooling equipment such as compressors.

This results in a drastic reduction in fuel consumption and reduced demand for maintenance.
