Dutch government to cut Groningen gas production by 10%

Dutch Minister of Economic Development Henk Kamp is planning to reduce gas production at the Groningen gas field by 10% starting from October 2017, Kamp said in a letter to parliament on Tuesday.

His decision is based on advice received by the State Supervisory Authority on Mines on the risk of earthquakes.

After finding an increased risk in the area around Loppersum, the authority recommended a 10% reduction in production from the current level of 24 billion cubic metres per year and to avoid seasonal fluctuations, should...
