New York has blocked the $455 million expansion of the Northern Access pipeline project.

New York has blocked the $455 million expansion of the Northern Access pipeline project, which would deliver gas to the state from the Marcellus and Utica shale plays before travelling on to Canada.

The state’s Department of Environmental Conservation (DEC) denied certification under Section 401 of the federal Clean Water Act after reviewing the project. Without certification, the pipeline cannot move forward within the New York state borders.
