Gazprom has signed a five-year contract to purchase gas from Uzbekistan.
Documents signed on Wednesday by Gazprom Chief Executive Alexei Miller and Uzbek Deputy Prime Minister Gulomjon Ibragimov show the Russian gas giant will purchase 4 billion cubic metres per year starting in 2018.
Gazprom previously bought Uzbek gas on one-year contracts and is set to buy 5 bcm in 2017.
Talks to put in place a more long-term agreement have taken many years, with Tashkent reluctant to change.
