The global trade in LNG increased by 7.5% in 2016 compared with 2015, according to figures released by GIIGNL, the International Group of LNG Importers. The Pacific Basin maintained its position as the world’s largest source of LNG exports and imports. The region became the biggest exporter in 2015, when it exported 7.4 mt more than the Middle East, and it extended this lead in 2016, when it sent out 25.0 mt more.
