Sovcomflot’s first ice-class LNG carrier cost approximately $300-$350 million, Sovcomflot Chief Executive Sergei Frank has told Interfax.

The vessel, named after Christophe de Margerie, the former head of Total who died in 2014, will transport volumes from Yamal LNG. It will travel east via the Northern Sea Route from July to December and westward year-round.

The ship will be able to reach the Bering Sea in five days and Japan in another seven or eight days, Frank said.
