Companies plan $500 mln investment in Vaca Muerta

By Staff reporter 3 April 2017

Argentina’s state-run YPF will invest $500 million together with Pan American Energy (PAE), Total’s Argentine subsidiary Austral, and Wintershall Energía in the Vaca Muerta formation, according to a securities filing.

The companies are also seeking permission from Argentine regulators to split the Aguada Pichana block into two.

Total will operate the eastern portion of Aguada Pichana – which is the third-largest gas production block in Argentina – while PAE would operate the western area.
