UN asks UK government to suspend work at Hinkley Point

By Staff reporter 20 March 2017

The UN’s Economic Commission for Europe (UNECE) has asked the UK to suspend construction work at the Hinkley Point C nuclear power plant because it has broken rules the regarding notifying neighbouring countries under the Convention on Environmental Impact Assessment in a Transboundary Context, UNECE said in a report published on Monday.

Construction work should be suspended until the commission establishes whether notification to neighbouring countries would be useful.
