Gas-fired power plants in Germany generated 45.2 TWh of electricity in 2016, up by 50% on the previous year, according to research organisation Fraunhofer. The upward trend in power production from gas turbines was mainly the result of relatively low gas prices over the year, Fraunhofer said.
