Ukrainian gas consumption drops in January

Ukrainian gas consumption fell by 5.8% year on year in January, to 5.11 billion cubic metres.

The industrial sector consumed 1.05 bcm over the month, 4.6% less year on year; the residential sector consumed 2.39 bcm, 5.7% less; and heating utilities used 1.35 bcm, 11.4% less, according to data from the energy ministry.

Production and technical utilisation accounted for another 332 million cubic metres – 18.6% higher year on year.

Ukraine consumed 32.36 bcm of gas in 2016, 4.1% less than in 2015.
