The share of renewables in the final energy consumption of EU countries rose slightly in 2015 from a year earlier, to almost 17%, Eurostat said on Tuesday.
"In 2015, the share of energy from renewable sources in gross final consumption of energy reached 16.7% in the EU, nearly double 2004 (8.5%) [levels], the first year for which the data are available," Eurostat said.
The share of renewables in 2014 was 16.1%.
