CNOOC diverts LNG to Ningbo terminal to avoid shortfall

By Staff reporter 13 March 2017

China National Offshore Oil Corp. has diverted the Maran Gas Amphipolis LNG carrier to its Ningbo LNG terminal in Zhejiang to meet elevated gas demand in the province.

A power line carrying electricity from Sichuan broke down at the end of February, leaving Zhejiang with a power shortfall of 6 GW.

The carrier docked on Saturday and finished unloading its 69,000-ton cargo the same day.

The gas will be enough to generate 500 GWh of power and supply 1 million households in Zhejiang for a month.
