The UK government said it is considering "the appropriate tax treatment" for diesel vehicles in its 2017 spring budget, released on Wednesday.

Ministers will "engage with stakeholders" to consider what changes need to be made in the autumn budget. Taxes could favour other fuels, including LNG.

The decision will be part of a clean air plan intended to help meet EU emissions targets.
