The seven United States gas pipeline projects approved in early 2017 will cover more than 2,400 km and involve over 198 million cubic metres per day (MMcm/d) of capacity, the Energy Information Administration (EIA) said in a report on Federal Energy Regulatory Commission (FERC) certificates on Tuesday.

FERC certified 498 MMcm/d of new gas pipeline capacity in 2016. Most of the pipeline projects approved this year are in the eastern region of the US, giving access to gas produced from the Marcellus and Utica shale plays.
