US gas production to hit 2.1 bcm/d in 2017 – EIA

Gas production in the United States is forecast to average 2.1 billion cubic metres per day in 2017, the EIA has said.

Gas production in the United States is forecast to average 2.1 billion cubic metres per day in 2017, a 39.7 million cubic metre per day (MMcm/d) increase from 2016, the Energy Information Administration (EIA) reported in Tuesday’s Short-Term Energy Outlook.

Gas production for 2018 is forecast to increase by an average of 116.1 MMcm/d from 2017 levels. The EIA expects the use of gas for power generation to fall in 2017 as a result of higher prices but forecasts growth in renewable sources.
