Sichuan forecasts gas consumption will reach 28 bcm in 2020

The southwestern Chinese province of Sichuan expects its gas consumption to reach 28 billion cubic metres in 2020, with the fuel accounting for 16.2% of its energy mix, according to the local 13th five-year development plan for energy.

Sichuan consumed 17.1 bcm in 2015, which represented 11.4% of the mix. The province plans to boost proven reserves of gas by 650 bcm by 2020 and increase its gas output to 45 bcm, 10 bcm of which will be shale gas.
