Naftogaz applies for right to intervene in OPAL case

Naftogaz Ukrainy has applied for the right to intervene in the case against the European Commission’s decision to allow Gazprom to increase gas flows via the OPAL pipeline.

Naftogaz Ukrainy has applied for the right to intervene in the case initiated by Poland’s state-owned PGNiG against the European Commission’s decision to allow Gazprom to increase gas flows via the OPAL pipeline, it said on Wednesday.

If upheld by the European Court of Justice, the commission’s decision would enable Gazprom to significantly increase its use of OPAL’s capacity and deliver more gas through Nord Stream, Naftogaz noted.
