German gas consumption still on the rise

Gas consumption for power and heat production in Germany continued to grow on an annual basis in late 2016, the most recent data from the German Association of Energy and Water Industries (BDEW) shows. Gas used in electricity and heat production stood at around 12.5 GWh in October 2016, an increase of 34% on the previous year. August and September saw even sharper year-on-year increases, at around 80-85%.
