The European Commission has launched a €1 billion ($1.07 billion) tender to boost investment in infrastructure in a move to pave the way for cleaner transport, it said on Wednesday.
The commission said the call for proposals will seek to combine €1 billion of grants from the Connecting Europe Facility with financing from public financial institutions, the private sector or – for the first time – the European Fund for Strategic Investments.
