Florida Sabal Trail pipeline receives FERC approval

Florida’s third major gas pipeline, the planned $3.2 billion Sabal Trail, received final approval from the Federal Energy Regulatory Commission on Friday to start construction on an 805 km section in North Florida.

Florida’s third major gas pipeline, the planned $3.2 billion Sabal Trail, received final approval from the Federal Energy Regulatory Commission on Friday to start construction on an 805 km section in North Florida.

A Spectra joint venture, the 31.5 million cubic metre per day pipeline will run from Alabama through southwest Georgia and south to Orlando.

The state of Georgia had halted construction of the link, opposing drilling underneath state rivers, and several counties in Georgia and Florida opposed the project.
