Cyprus, which may look to Israeli gas exports to feed its power plants, has welcomed reports of “significant signs” of gas at the Karish field, offshore Israel.

The Karish prospect “is significant in size – about 100 billion cubic metres – which makes it more likely for Israel to agree to authorise exports during the current debate, in two to four months”, Charles Ellinas, president of Cyprus National Hydrocarbons Co. (CNHC), told Interfax.
