Shell and Inpex put Abadi FLNG on ice

Inpex and Shell have postponed sanctioning their 7.5 mtpa Abadi floating LNG project in Indonesia until 2020, according to the country’s regulator SKKMigas.

Inpex and Shell have postponed sanctioning their 7.5 mtpa Abadi floating LNG project in Indonesia until 2020, according to the country’s regulator SKKMigas.

The delay is reportedly because the government has failed to decide whether the LNG project should be an offshore or onshore facility.

Inpex also plans to cut its Indonesian workforce by 40%, amounting to 160 job losses.
