The Bangladeshi government plans to use the abandoned Sangu gas platform in the Bay of Bengal to import LNG or CNG, the Daily Sun has reported.

The Energy and Mineral Resources Division met the energy secretary this week to discuss the possibility of converting the platform to receive imports.

The Sangu gas field, operated by Santos, was shut in October 2013 because of dwindling reserves.
