Iran has started work on a $10 billion gas pipeline that will run across Iraq into Syria, the semi-official Fars news agency reported on Monday.

Iran has started work on a $10 billion gas pipeline that will run across Iraq into Syria, the semi-official Fars news agency reported on Monday.

Tehran has reportedly started construction of the first 225 km leg of the 1,500 km pipeline at an estimated cost of $3 billion.

The project is expected to be completed by H2 2013.

The news agency also reported over the weekend that Iran will provide Pakistan with a $250 million loan to fund its section of the $1.5 billion Iran-Pakistan gas pipeline, and...
