The outlook is brightening for gas use in medium- and heavy-duty vehicles in the United States, but supply and infrastructure issues remain significant obstacles.

The large spread between the price of US gas and the price of traditional transport fuels has led companies, as well as state and local governments, to seek opportunities to expand gas use in the US vehicle fleet.
