Tanzania’s estimated gas reserves stand at 28.7 trillion cubic feet (813 bcm), the country’s Energy Minister, Sospeter Muhongo, told Reuters. The updated reserves figures are more than three times the previous estimate of 283.2 bcm after gas finds made offshore by BG Group, Ophir Energy and Statoil, among others.

He also mentioned in the report that the government is working on a new energy policy and other legislative amendments.
