Growing tensions between Russia and Ukraine could revive the Nabucco pipeline project as the EU seeks to diversify its energy supply routes.

“We can [revive] Nabucco – if the EU was willing to fund it,” said Andras Jenei, from the Hungarian Ministry of National Development, at the gas transport and storage summit in Berlin this week. “It is the same project as [South Stream] – and following the crisis, the political dimensions of pipeline decisions become more obvious.”
