The key issue: As the winds of change sweep through the global LNG market, Perth-based Western Gas is responding by progressing a 2 mtpa FLNG concept offshore Western Australia.

Interfax analysis: Advances in modular LNG processing technology, new financing models, plentiful gas supplies and emerging global LNG spot trading are prompting smaller producers in Western Australia (WA) to consider new export models.

Western Gas’s proposed Equus LNG project is the second small-scale FLNG concept being pioneered in WA, which has so far favoured large capex-intensive liquefaction schemes.
