The large-scale use of battery storage has long been on the horizon, but development and deployment of the technology are set to take substantial steps forward. Last year saw record use of energy storage, which nearly doubled from that seen in 2017. Ambitious plans for expansion could result in major capacity growth in the next 10 years, with significant progress expected to be seen this year and next.
