Thailand’s PTTEP has made a large gas find off the Malaysian state of Sarawak that will help boost its short reserve life at a time when production at home is slipping. Estimated at around 57 billion cubic metres, the new find is the explorer’s biggest-ever discovery and reinforces its aggressive strategy to expand its gas resource base via exploration across Southeast Asia – particularly in Malaysia.
