The key issue: The government of Brazil is expected to present a plan to liberalise the country’s gas market next month as it seeks to overhaul the system.

Interfax analysis: Brazil’s new proposal for liberalising its gas market is intended to boost third-party access (TPA) to infrastructure, reduce gas prices and accelerate the divestment programme of state-owned Petrobras. However, the plan will face a number of regulatory and political challenges before it can effect meaningful reform.
