The key issue: Hungary and Slovakia are taking advantage of Gazprom’s new supply route into Central Europe and positioning themselves as rivals to Austria’s CEE transit throne.

Interfax analysis: Transmission system operator (TSO) Gas Connect Austria is using the liberalisation of the Austrian gas grid to maintain the Baumgarten hub’s central market position and fight against attempts to draw volumes away from the country.
