The Moldovan government does not plan to enter into a new gas supply contract with Russia’s Gazprom until a new pipeline bringing Romanian gas into Moldova has come online, Moldovan Economy and Infrastructure Minister Chiril Gaburici said on Moldovan TV on Sunday.

Moldova’s contract with Gazprom is valid until the end of 2019.

Construction of the Chisinau-Ungheni pipeline is scheduled to start by the end of August and be completed within 10 months.
