Economic growth and increased power generation from coal in China have contributed to the first rise in global CO2 emissions for three years, research shows. 

A study by the Global Carbon Project has reported that worldwide emissions of carbon dioxide are expected to rise by 2% year on year in 2017 following three years of almost no growth.
