The joint initiative by the UK and Canada to phase out coal is gaining momentum, with more countries expected to join the coalition at the upcoming UN climate talks in Germany.

The pressure on coal is likely to grow following a joint announcement by Catherine McKenna, Canada’s minister of environment and climate change, and Claire Perry, the UK minister for climate change and industry.
