Spare LNG export capacity in West and North Africa will cap gains in spot LNG prices in 2018.

The ramp-up of supply from West and North African exporters has been a key feature of the MEA’s LNG trade in 2017. Despite this, there is spare capacity that could be used in Egypt, Algeria, Nigeria, Equatorial Guinea and Angola. Meanwhile, the potential for a sharp decline in Egypt’s LNG imports in 2018 will be another bearish factor for spot prices.
