Rising geopolitical tensions in the Middle East risk denting investor confidence in the region’s gas sector.

Unprecedented changes implemented in Saudi Arabia by King Salman bin Abdulaziz Al Saud and Crown Prince Mohammed Bin Salman have taken many by surprise. November has seen the arrest and dismissal of some of Saudi Arabia’s most powerful figures on corruption charges. Prince Miteb bin Abdullah – the favoured son of the former King Abdullah – was dismissed as the head of the Saudi Arabian National Guard. Meanwhile, Prince al-Waleed bin Talal – chairman of investment firm Kingdom Holding Co. and one of Saudi Arabia’s richest businessmen – was also arrested and has had his assets frozen.
